Senior Mattie Henry has attended LRCA for 5 years. She came in Kindergarten and left after 1st grade and returned in 10th grade. “At Little Rock Christian, the teachers are intentional and go further than just learning,” Mattie said. “The facilities and activities are incredible and the opportunities are substantially greater compared to other schools I’ve been to.” Mattie loves reading books and hearing others’ opinions on them by Harknessing in classes like AP Lit. She is very social and loves hanging out and doing activities with friends. She also enjoys running and playing guitar. She is self-taught on the guitar and has been playing for seven years since she was homeschooled during her country music phase. Mattie is Assistant to the VP of Events in Art Society. Her favorite Art Society event she has helped lead was Elementary Paint Pals. “I loved getting to interact with them and help them create art,” she said. “I also enjoy the workshops because you get to facilitate your own artistic learning. It’s hands-on, and you get to focus on what interests you most.” Mattie said her biggest inspiration is her dad. She said he never complains and is strong throughout everything. “He prioritizes family and always makes us feel like we mean the world to him, she said. “He is always doing little acts of kindness and making time for us.” Mattie is passionate about providing genuine healthcare for women and plans on being a doctor specializing in women’s health. She wants to travel and do medical missions work across the world and provide Western medical care to women who society has disregarded or oppressed. Mattie’s ultimate goal is to have a clinic where she can help these women and make a difference in their lives. Mattie said she sees God working through her life in the little things throughout the day. She said receiving a kind word from someone or having someone in her class that she’s good friends with makes her feel special. “These small things are easy to ignore but are a gift from God, and I am so grateful for all that he has given me,” she said.
