The 9th grade girls Bible study, led by Ms. Anna Goad, has been meeting since they were in 5th grade. During a time where friendships started to change, Ms. Goad and Amy Williams wanted to start a Bible study that focused on what Biblical friendship looks like, “building each other up and sharpening one another.” At the start of each year, Ms. Goad shows them a picture of herself in that grade, which she said she thinks is “absolutely tragic.” This serves as a reminder that she has been in their shoes. “I am just another person in their life that prays for them and wants to point them to Jesus,” Ms. Goad said.
This Bible study is for everyone to have a safe place to ask questions. “This year is already off to a great start,” Ms. Goad said. They have been studying the book of Romans, which is a pivotal book to our faith. They bring in guest speakers from both the LRCA and Little Rock community. With Homecoming being their first dance, upperclassmen girls came to answer questions on what to expect. Moms have also joined in and invested in these girls from bringing snacks, to teaching them life lessons that will serve them for the rest of their lives.
Ms. Goad said this Bible study is her favorite thing she gets to do. She is so thankful that this group of girls allow her to hang out with them and have real, true, and genuine conversations about what matters in this world. “[Witnessing] the maturity and growth from all the way back in fifth grade is the biggest blessing,” she said. Her dream is to continue until they graduate.
